How To Build Trust Quickly To Close More MLM Prospects
Build Trust And Rapport On Purpose
Have you ever met someone who you could easily talk to for any and all topics, and who seemed to just know you? Be that person for your prospects! Check out their social media profiles and get to know them a little before talking to them. It will be so much easier to strike up an interesting conversation.
A little bit of personal touch goes a long way!
Powerful, Open-Ended Questions To Build Trust
Do you know what are the most powerful questions in the world? Open questions. That means that when you ask the person something, they can’t answer you with a simple “yes” or “no”.
Open-ended questions are intended to provoke people to talk to about themselves. This in turn shows that you want to know more about them, and that you care. And those are the first steps towards building trust. Here are a few examples:
- Hey, name! How is it going?
- What are you up to these days (or this weekend)?
- How is the family?
- How was your vacation to … ?
- What are you working on these days?
- How is your business going?
- What are you excited about?
Should You Lead With The Product Or The Business?
Ask yourself this: what are you excited about the most — the product or the business? Lead with the one that makes you feel more comfortable.
Of course, think about who you’re talking to. Because if you have in front of you a business owner, it might make more sense to start with the business. Presumably they’d be more interested in that. If it’s someone else — you could start with the product.
Remember that the people who love the product, would most probably join the business at some point, so either way — you’re good!
So be yourself, have fun and just go with whatever feels more natural to you. Trust your gut!
Powerful Curiosity Questions
Once you get the conversation going, there are a couple of excellent questions you could ask your prospects to see if they’d be willing to join your business. Check them out:
- Do you keep your business options open?
- Are you happy with your current situation or would an additional income stream help you?
They’re so simple and yet — so powerful!
What’s Your Closing Ratio?
How many people do you talk to and how many of them get started? If that ratio is 3 out of 10 — that’s amazing!
If your numbers are lower — don’t beat yourself up. It happens, especially in the beginning. That’s why you need to talk to more people, so you can make up in numbers what you lack in skill.
So, How Does A Transition Happen?
Transition can be tricky. There are 2 ways to go about it: direct and indirect.
The direct way goes a little something like this. You’re talking to someone about their work, and they complain about how their job is going. You can say something like:
- “Just so you know, we actually have a very successful business that we’re a part of.” (or whatever else your company has taught you)
If you yourself aren’t successful yet — don’t worry. Talk about what other people have achieved and how you’re walking in their footsteps.
The indirect approach a little more subtle. When you’re talking to someone and you ask them how their business is going, if they tell you something in the lines of: “It’s going great! I’m making a lot of money.” don’t try and explain to them how much success you’re having. Wait until they ask you how things are going, and then casually mention some numbers. If they still don’t seem interested and give you one-word answers, say something like:
- “Hey, it sounds like you’ve got a lot of great things going on. If you know anybody that could use this product, or can benefit from this, let me know. I’d love to help them.”
Then move on. Remember that this is a numbers’ game. It’s better go and talk to more people instead of wasting your time on one person who’s not even that into it.
