People who are serious about their business know how important it is to have engaging social media accounts—where your audience can see who you are and why they need you.
There’s one word that immediately pops into our minds when we think of entertaining social media content:
According to Cisco’s Visual Networking Index, by 2022, 79% of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video. So whatever your plans are, first, you need to master video creation and maybe even editing.
Look, we get it. Many people freak out when they hear these words because they think they’ll need intense set up only top video marketers have access to.
You can make and edit stunning videos straight from your phone. In this tutorial, I’ll share five mobile apps we use to nail our video making and editing processes (and create results).
5 Apps We Use To Easily Create and Edit Videos On the Go
Before we jump to it, there’s something we need to go over. There are two rules for creating videos that people love watching.
Number one: Have the tech stuff dialed in.
You don’t have to be tech-savvy or a professional to shoot great videos. You just have to make sure you have good light, great content, solid audio, etc.
Number two: Have a stellar inner game.
We’ve watched lots of great videos in terms of production value, but the person on camera wasn’t bringing the right energy.
The best videos are all about having a clear mindset and being self-confident. If you don’t believe in the message you’re sending, neither will your audience. After all, the purpose of doing videos—outside of building your personal brand and generating leads—is to help solve problems.
Before you start recording, make sure you ask yourself these questions:
- Do I have the tools I need to get started?
- What is the purpose of my video?
- Do I wanna repurpose it to other platforms?
Now that you figured out how to get the most out of your videos, it’s time to dig in. Here are the five favorite apps we use to kill that video creating & editing game.
This app has powerful editing tools to help you edit videos like a pro, on the go. Merge, cut, trim, split, reverse, add music, filters—you name it!
Why I love it:
VideoShow has a beauty filter I absolutely adore. I use it whenever I feel the need to add a little spark!
Disclaimer: I use the PRO version of the app. At the time of the writing of this article, the price is $29.99, but my experience has proven that it’s totally worth it.
#2. Add Subtitles (for iOS)
This app is amazing. There are several reasons why you should add subtitles to your videos:
- Not everyone can hear
- Sometimes, you can’t turn on the audio (85% of Facebook videos are watched on mute)
- Subtitles increase social reach (Instapage found that captioned videos on Facebook have 16% higher reach than those without)
The point is, adding captions to your social media videos will boost your engagement, getting you more views.
This is a mobile app-based video production tool that has a cool teleprompter feature. You can use it whenever you want to record short videos that need to be scripted, making sure you hit all the important points.
Why we love it:
It’s easy to use! Create a script in Microsoft Word and upload it to the desktop version. Then send that script to the app on your phone and start recording! The words will scroll on your screen as you go!
#4. iMovie (for iOS)
How many of you, Mac users, have tried the iMovie for desktop and then downloaded the mobile version? That’s our case. iMovie is easy to use and has a clean and welcoming interface.
Why we love it:
It plays nice with other Apple products and it has 30 different video filters and 20 audio filters you can apply to your videos.
InShot Editor is an app we use to format the video (or photo) for other platforms. Let’s say you have a landscape video you want to upload to Instagram. How do you make it more native for the platform? You use InShot to blur out on the sides and make it square for Instagram. Done.
Why we love it:
Whether we’re doing short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Stories or a live broadcast on YouTube/Facebook, InShot makes it easy to change the video shape for different Social Media without having to re-edit.
These are the apps we use to create and edit videos with ease using our phones. The bottom line is, a video a day gets lots of paychecks coming your way. Do yourself a favor and get yourself out there.
