Do you sometimes feel like a fraud? Like everybody’s going to discover that you’re not all that smart or spectacular? Is your confidence shaky?
This is what psychologists call ‘imposter syndrome’, and it’s estimated that about 70% of all people experience it at one point in their life! How crazy is that?!
But enough with the stinking thinking!
Inside this training, we’re going to take a closer look at how you can build your confidence and how you can conquer imposter syndrome like it’s nobody’s business!

How to Build Confidence and Conquer Imposter Syndrome
According to the Harvard Business Review, imposter syndrome can be defined as “a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success”.
In other words, many of us feel that we don’t deserve the success we get. We think that other people are more competent, so maybe they should get it instead of us. But the truth is, you do deserve every single breakthrough and opportunity that comes your way!
And here’s the thing – imposter syndrome is going to continue to show up, especially if you attach it to the concept that ‘progress = happiness’. After all, if you continue to evolve as a human being and grow your business, you’re going to be presented with continuous opportunities to step it up and mess it up. And any time a new opportunity shows up, you’re going to feel some anxiety.
But you wanna know a little secret? Anxiety and excitement feel very similar to each other: you feel nervous and perhaps your heart starts beating faster. So instead of focusing on the negative, start saying that you’re “excited” about any new opportunity!
Confidence & Perfection
Let’s talk about the biggest enemy of confidence – perfection! Because the truth is, perfection is impossible. Think about it! Nothing in nature is perfect, and do you want to know why? Because it’s boring and oftentimes, it’s just not practical!
We’re all perfectly imperfect, and we all have our strengths and weaknesses. As Albert Einstein once wrote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
So let’s be as smart as Einstein, and thank God (or the Universe) about all the talents we’ve been given!
But we get it – building your confidence and conquering imposter syndrome can be hard. So what can you do?
Acknowledge that it Happens
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m not smart enough, I can never do this. Other people will have so much better results than me”?
It’s time to stop! As we mentioned before, a whopping 70% of people experience imposter syndrome. So you’re not alone!
Don’t beat yourself up! We’ve all been to Suckville and we know you can make it through!
Put Things in Perspective
Take a step back and look at the big picture.
For example, if you just finished speaking, just remind yourself that even if you messed up, people already forgot 90% of it. So just show up and do your best! That’s all.
Sometimes we try to control too many things and it’s hard. But the important thing is to keep going!
So how can you start putting things in perspective? Take 15-30 minutes and reflect on what you accomplished so far this week/month. Then take a second to celebrate. Your mindset will slowly start to shift!
GAPEM is an abbreviation and it stands for all the little things I do as part of my morning routine. Because here’s the thing… You need to start your day by grounding yourself and preparing your mind, body, and soul for success! So what is GAPEM?
As Oprah says, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more”. And she is so right! Feeling grateful is one of the most powerful ways to transform your mindset in a positive way and make the shift that will take you to your next level of success!
And here’s what I like to do every single morning. I take my notebook with stars on it (so that it reminds me I’m a star), and I write down:
- 10 things I’m grateful for and I include my current goals, written in present tense as if they’re already happening!
- 3 people I want to send positive energy to!
And I finish by asking God for direction for the day. This is SO powerful!
I learned this simple practice from the great Bob Proctor and it changed my happiness levels and the abundance I get to experience today!
And now I have a challenge for YOU!
In order to recognize your genius, I want you to write down not only what you’re grateful for but also this… For 30 days in a row, write down 10 things you LOVE about yourself!
Do you think you can do it? Pinky promise? AMAZING! This Challenge will seriously rock your confidence and self-esteem!
Inside the same Gratitude Journal, I carry around with me, I have cards. And on them, I’ve written 25 statements that I say to myself every single day, with posture.
Because here’s the deal. What you say and what you think will change your whole life. Here are 25 awesome affirmations you can choose from. Pick your favorite statements, put them on index cards and speak them boldly into your life every day!
P- Personal/Skill Development
Try following this principle: when you’re faced with a tough situation, triple your personal development!
For example, 7-8 years ago, we were really struggling with our business, and I just could not see how we could ever get out of this “rut”! So what John and I did was, for 30 days in a row, every morning we watched the movie The Secret.
And what do you know? Our attitudes changed for the better, and so did our business!
So think about a skill you want to develop. Something that will help you become more competent in your field of expertise (and thus, more confident), and start making a conscious choice to develop it every single day!
Has this ever happened to you: you go to the gym and you feel out of place?
I was feeling the same way! It was intimidating!
But I knew that exercise makes you happier, so I decided to find a way to implement it in my routine. So I got equipment for my home! And it’s really made a difference!
So take at least 30 minutes a day to sweat! Because when you feel good and happy, you’re going to crush it!
Surround yourself with people who inspire you to achieve more!
I’ll be honest, I used to think meditation is weird. There were no people around me who practiced it, and I hadn’t researched enough about it, so I used to always dismiss it as a waste of time.
But then I had a Mastermind retreat with my mentor Brendon Burchard. And he told me that meditation will change my life! So I decided to #obey.
When I returned from the Mastermind, I was exhausted! I came home at 2 am, woke up at 6 am, and took the kids to school. When I got home, all I wanted to do was go back to bed and stay there the whole day.
But you know what happened? I decided to give Brandon’s Release Mediation Technique a chance. 20 min later, I opened my eyes, and I feft as if I had just come back from a 2-week beach vacation! My mind was so alert, my body — so relaxed. I felt like I could conquer the world!
Since then I’ve been meditating almost every single day!
Which practice will you put into plan? Remember, the thing to avoid is crushing into your to-do list. Start your day always by grounding yourself in gratitude, in belief that you’re powerful, that you’re a child of the most high God and that the world needs your genius! Then get into your income-producing activities and you’re going to crush it! It’s a lot like doing sports – you get rewarded in public what you do in private.
