We rode that roller coaster up and down for 7 years before we could finally create a full-time Network Marketing income. And even then, there were still ups and downs. Heck, to this day, we have our ups and downs…
But you know what? As an entrepreneur and as a network marketer, there are going to be challenges.
BUT! We have 5 important tips that you need to hear! Because if you fully understand these 5 things, you’re going to be more successful in the long run!

5 Things We Wish We Knew Before We Became Network Marketers
Tip #1: Energy Over Strategy
We talk a lot about strategy: what to do, what to say, what to post, how to use the ATM strategy, etc. And the thing is, strategy is important.
But at the end of the day, nothing trumps energy! When we walk into a room, when we do a Live video, or when we get up on stage, we’re always bringing our energy because energy is more important than anything else!
For example, if you’re excited about what you’re doing, you’re going to attract results! Don’t get us wrong — we don’t want you to oversell or come across as someone who’s salesy or fake. But on the flip side, you do have to step it up a notch. If you’re excited, tell your face!
Network marketing is the most exciting business in the world when you have momentum. And it’s the most depressing business — when you don’t.
So how do you turn things around? Kick it up a notch! Cultivate that sparkle in your eye and bring it! Energetically, you’ve got to be the thermometer, not the thermostat!
Tip #2: Know Your Worth and Stop Giving Discounts
Do you have the proper posture? The truth is, sometimes it might happen that you don’t. So let’s ground you in the way that we all ought to think about this whole operation!
When you become a Network Marketer, and when you believe in your product and your company, ground yourself in the fact that when you paid that measly startup fee, you hired a multi-million dollar (sometimes a multi-billion dollar) infrastructure!
Put it in perspective — you can invest a teeny, tiny amount of money, and make just as much money without all the stress and headaches that traditional business owners have. Plus, you have freedom and flexibility!
In other words, you have a high opportunity but low risk! This is incredibly valuable!
Tip #3: Have a Simple & Duplicatable System
SYSTEM stands for Save Yourself Time, Energy and Money. And the truth is, if you want for your people to duplicate it, it has to be simple.
Think about McDonald’s. How come they sell the most burgers when they don’t have the best burger in the world? It’s because of their system!
And here’s the thing: there are many systems out there. Most people look for WW — What Works.
But for us? We wanted WYW — What You Want. And what we wanted was freedom.
We used to do home meetings all the time. That was a simple enough system, once we had it dialed in. But it took us away from our family. So we had to identify not what worked, but what we wanted because that’s more important than what works!

Tip #4: Daily Method of Operation (DMO)
What are the MMAs (money-making activities) or IPAs (income-producing activities) you’re doing every day?
Think about it. You have people right now in your:
- Friends list;
- Cell phone;
If you were to reach out to them and share your opportunity, they’ll get involved! Not all of them, of course, but some of them will! So stop your stinking thinking and stop pre-judging everybody!
Have massive belief and take massive action! If you execute your daily disciplines, you will have success. And if you don’t… It’s the butterfly effect. If you eat 3 crappy meals a day, they won’t kill you tomorrow, but you will have health issues in the future.
What you do on a daily basis is either going to change your life, or it’s going to hinder you from the dream life. So you’ve got to take action every day! And that’s actually the hard part. Because you can go to an event, or watch a video. But if tomorrow you don’t feel good or next week you say, “I’m going to take this week off”, your results will slow down.
People are recognized in public for what they do for years in private. Trust the timing. We know you might want it to happen faster than it does, but when you eventually get there and you will look back, it’s all going to make sense. And you’re going to realize the value of why it took so long!
So captivate your vision! Believe in what you do! Do your daily activities, whether you feel like it or not. Why? Motion comes before emotion. So follow the law of inertia and get into it!
Tip #5: Have a Mentor
We all need mentorship. Somebody who can help guide us through this journey.
When we started out in Network Marketing, we didn’t have the knowledge or the confidence that we do now. So our upline leaders guided us through the process and we stepped up our game. It was like magic!
Now, your mentors could be either virtual or, if you’re lucky enough, local to you. Whatever the case, the most important thing to remember is to implement what they teach.
All mentors and leaders want one thing — to make a difference! And to be able to brag about you and the results you got!
They don’t just want your money. There’s no amount of money that someone can make that can trump somebody going out there and creating results and bettering their life. And these results don’t have to be only monetary. They can be a happier and more fulfilled person, or the smile on kid’s face because mom or dad is in a better mood all the time. That’s what it’s all about!
